International Agricultural Show 2024
In 1964, the very first Salon International de l'Agriculture drew 300,000 visitors. The event has since doubled in size, with over 600,000 people expected at Paris Expo - Porte de Versailles. The enthusiasm for the event continues unabated, even after the event was postponed during the pandemic.
The Concours Général Agricole has been running since its first appearance in France in 1870. It's a real highlight of the show, and the rings are always crowded. Initially, it was reserved for animals, to reward the best of French animal genetics. Nowadays, the competition includes other categories, notably products and wines.
As in previous years, a representative cow is chosen. For this 60th edition, Oreillette, a 5-year-old cow from Normandy, has been chosen as ambassador to honor her territory and the family farm she comes from. The star of the show will proudly wear her three-colored dress in pavilion n°1.
Programming focused on 4 universes
The Salon de l'Agriculture covers the entire Paris Expo area, with four clearly defined universes.
1. Livestock farming and its sectors
This is the world we all know best. This is where you'll find the mascot cow, as well as the rings of the Concours Général Agricole. The gathering of different species showcases the best of the animal industry, with 5 sectors:
- Cattle, sheep, pigs, goats
- Equine
- Dogs and cats
- Barnyard
- Animals of the world
Immerse yourself in the world of livestock farming with our activities, and meet the breeders to find out more about their daily lives.
2. Products from the French, Overseas and World Regions
This universe delights the taste buds with flavors from the French terroir, but also exotic specialties that transport you to the four corners of the globe. Stroll through the aisles and you'll feel as if you've traveled to five continents.
Three sectors will be showcasing the products of mainland France, the flavors of France's overseas territories and the products of world agriculture. The Competition's medal-winning products will also be available for tasting in the Pavilion 4 restaurant.
3. Crops and plant sectors
This world is designed to showcase the key players in the French industry in a fun, educational atmosphere.
You'll move on from an approach to field crops to gardening, while also tackling arboriculture. You'll also learn about market gardening, as well as wine, cereals and seed production.
4. Agricultural services and trades
French agriculture is also, and above all, about vocations and professions on the move. Discover the challenges facing the sector, the steps involved, the training courses... The leaders in the agricultural world are divided into six sections:
- Multi-sector
- Sea and freshwater
- AGRI'TECH
- AGRI'METIERS
- Environment and energy
- Woods and forests
