Chalair takes over the Aurillac-Orly route

The Aurillac-Orly air route is the subject of a public service delegation (DSP) procedure. For the period from June 1, 2023 to May 31, 2027, the company Chalair has been chosen to link the Aurillac-Tronquières community airport with Orly in less than 1h30. Three daily return flights are scheduled on weekdays, and a later rotation is planned on Sundays for this route, which is vital for opening up the Cantal region and boosting its economic development.

Details of the Aurillac-Orly route under the public service delegation contract

The Aurillac-Paris air service has been up and running since 2011. The route is managed and co-financed by a number of public bodies, including the Collectivité Départementale and the French State, as well as the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region and the CABA (Communauté d'Agglomération du Bassin d'Aurillac).

Our Normandy-based airline was selected during the consultation process, and flights are scheduled in accordance with the specifications of the public service contract for a 4-year period starting June 1, 2023.

Flights operate 3 round trips 5 days a week, with one rotation on Sundays. Connections take 1h20 non-stop between Aurillac and Paris, aboard a 48-seat ATR 42-500.

Schedules are programmed as follows:

  • Departure from Aurillac Tronquières at 7.10am, 1.55pm and 6.05pm Monday to Friday
  • Departures from Orly at 9.05am, 3.50pm and 8.05pm, Monday to Friday
  • No flights on Saturday
  • The 6.05pm departure from Aurillac and 8.05pm departure from Orly are also assigned to the Sunday rotation.

A vital line for the Cantal economy

Bruno Faure, President of the Conseil Départemental, pointed out that this is "a vital link for Cantal's businesses and economy". This regional development line is recognized as being in the public interest, given Cantal's isolation and the dependence of much of its economic activity.

This is why local councillors have mobilized to demand an increase in the State's contribution, so as to be able to maintain the rhythm of three round trips 5 days a week to the capital in less than 1h30 by plane, compared with 6 to 8 hours by train or car.

Bookings can be made at your travel agency or directly on the Chalair website, where other destinations are also waiting for you.
