2nd edition of Paris + by Art Basel

For 47 years since 1974, the Foire Internationale d'Art Contemporain, also known as FIAC, has brought together gallerists, curators, collectors and other players in the international contemporary art scene every October in Paris.

In 2022, following the invitation to tender issued by the Réunion des musées nationaux - Grand Palais, the event changed organizer. The second edition of the event, renamed "Paris + by Art Basel", will be held from October 19 to 22, 2023.

Held in the Grand Palais Ephémère, this 2023 edition features over 150 prestigious galleries from 34 different countries. From this selection, some 60 French entries have been chosen for the second year running. Each of them presents the work of one or more artists of French or international renown, with works dating from the early 20th century to the present day. Art Basel 's Paris+ fair is divided into two main sections.

The Galleries section

This year's section includes works by major representatives of the Surrealist movement, rare works by French painter Jean Hélion, and productions by post-war Italian masters.

The section also includes works by artists from the Middle East and North Africa, Brazil and the United States. Paintings, sculptures, installations, photographs and other masterpieces will be on view. Dialogues between different works will also be featured.

The Emerging Galleries section

As its name suggests, this space brings together young artists, with, for example, the participation of Chinese artist Lu Yang for his videos, the Indonesian collective Tromarama and its multimedia installation, the hyper-realistic paintings of Polish artist Karol Palczak, the works of French artist Aurélien Potier, and the performative environment of Spanish artist Loreto Martínez Troncoso...

Public programming in parallel with the show

In partnership with the City of Paris and other cultural institutions, Paris+ by Art Basel offers free public programming to explore outside the walls of the Grand Palais Ephémère.

These freely accessible works of art and the Conversations program can be found in 6 historic locations in Paris:

  • In the Jardin des Tuileries, you will find a group exhibition organized in partnership with the Musée du Louvre;
